Queen Mary Gardens, St Arnaud

St Arnaud, a former gold mining town, features many historic buildings and landscapes. Established in the late nineteenth century, the Queen Mary Gardens have been well preserved and enjoyed by the local community and visitors alike.

Thomson Hay Landscape Architects worked closely with Northern Grampians Shire Council Officers to prepare a landscape plan for the expansion of the gardens in the former bowling green site.
The scope of design works included:
  • siting and layout of shelter and arbor
  • provision of paths, seating, walls, opportunities for sculpture
  • design of feature trees, garden planting area and open lawns
  • consider presentation of the gardens from the streetscape
  • consider integration and connection of the expansion with the existing gardens
