Lake Tyrrell, Buloke Shire Council
Thomson Hay Landscape Architects were engaged by Buloke Shire Council to improve the visitor experience at Victoria's largest salt lake, Lake Tyrrell. The project address the overall planning of the site and the development of visitor infrastructure, which includes public toilets, a viewing platform, paths, boardwalks, a sky lounge and large scale 'TYRRELL' promotional letters. Due to the high number of international tourists, directional and interpretive signage will also be designed.
Thomson Hay Landscape Architects led a consultant team that included architects, signage design, civil, structural, electrical and mechanical engineers, quantity surveyors and Chinese cultural heritage consultant.
It is the clarity of the reflection on the lake has attracted people to Sea Lakes and Lake Tyrrell in order to capture the perfect photograph. The still water creates a mirror like image of the sky at any time of the day or night.
