The Eaglehawk Town Hall Precinct includes the Eaglehawk Court House, the Mechanics Institute and the Town Hall, all of which have been identified as significant heritage buildings.

This site was directly impacted by long term drainage issues of which the repairs created to opportunity to improve the landscape experience and pedestrian connectivity around the buildings.


The landscape design development and documentation plans prepared for this important precinct were completed in association with Heritage Victoria and the City of Greater Bendigo. Key issues for consideration of the design and development of the landscape included:

  • Improved pedestrian access
  • Consideration of site levels and improved stormwater drainage
  • Consideration of protection of heritage elements and existing trees. Development of landscape proposals that provided appropriate treatments in the vicinity of the trees
  • Consideration of the landscape treatment to the forecourt and building entries of the former Eaglehawk Court House
