Built on the former site of the historic Kilmore Brewery, Eden Rise Estate is an infill development with 59 residential lots and a local reserve known as Brewery Hill Park.

The remains of the former brewery were uncovered by Archaeologists in 2011 and 2015 including the footings of buildings, drains, kiln, chimney, fireplace, a rock-lined cellar, and thousands of beer bottles. All the historic artefacts are preserved underground in the park.

Our design approach included a simple, sensitive and sympathetic design response that incorporated the remaining (exposed) heritage values of the site. Heritage Victoria requirements included exposure, consolidation, integration and interpretation of the bluestone brewery building foundations. We carefully considered the layout of the park elements including paths, a playground, seats, retaining walls and interpretive signage to avoid conflicts with historic artefacts and allow the history of the Kilmore Brewery to be preserved and seen. Our selection of materials, finishes, colours and planting was influenced by the site's heritage elements.
