The Huonville Link Road is a new road that will reduce congestion and improve safety in Huonville's town centre.
The new Huon Link Road is located between the Huon Highway at the northern end and Flood Road / Knights Road intersection at the southern end - a distance of approximately 500 metres. The new road alignment passes through a number of established land uses including an apple orchard, former public golf course and open farm land. A new shared path will be constructed in the Huon Link Road reserve.
To comply with the Huon Valley Council Planning permit, we prepared a landscape plan, a biodiversity offset plan and a biodiversity offset delivery to guide the landscape and revegetation works within the new road reserve.
Landscape design objectives and considerations included the provision of:
· Screening along both sides of the new road and shared path
· Rehabilitation, revegetation and management of the biodiversity offset area
· Stable batters and surfaces
· Low maintenance vegetation
· Appealing, low maintenance roadside landscaping
· preservation of local landscape character through use of local provenance plant species where possible
· To consider safety of road users
