Following on from the Monash Drive streetscape design project we completed for the Swan Hill Rural City Council in 2020, we were engaged to develop detailed designs and documentation for the proposed viewing platform overlooking the Little Murray River.

This project included design development and refinement of original concepts and required us to work closely with RMG Engineers to develop the form and features of the platform.  The structure includes a timber boardwalk section that continues the path network along Monash Drive, where the boardwalk branches to a viewing platform overlooking the Little Murray River and sitting within River Red Gum canopies, over 6 metres above the normal river level.  A feature balustrade with angles and fins spans the organic shape of the platform.  The form of the balustrade captures the light from various angles to create interesting tonal variation.  A custom bench seat extrudes from the timber deck to provide a resting point and a new tourism destination in Swan Hill.
