Mortlake Power Station

A commission by Origin Energy to liaise with four landowners who directly adjoin the 550MW gas-fired peak supply power station and document vegetative screening options to reduce the visual impact of the power station.

Landscape screening proposals were based on a combination of strategies including:
  • strategically sited specimen trees within homestead gardens
  • direct seeded and tube stock planted farm plantations
  • Heritage Victoria approved driveway avenue plantings

A waste water irrigated wood lot consisting of selected native species was designed and documented for on-site treatment of filter backwash water produced as part of the power station’s reclaimed water treatment process.  The woodlot was designed to meet EPA requirements.
