A story of national significance
Tocumwal Rotary has maintained this creekside trail for the last two decades. Looking after the site has become more challenging as Rotary members get older. There is concern that the creek is becoming unsightly. There’s also renewed interest from the community to promote the WAAAF story more and frame it for a contemporary audience. Tocumwal has a story of national significance to tell and is particularly well placed to showcase Australia’s WAAAF story.
The WAAAF Creek Walk will link most of Tocumwal’s Accommodation and eastern residential area with the golf club, the shops and services, two schools, the recreation reserve and the foreshore.
Our work on this project is a continuation of the Town Concept Plan, Foreshore Masterplan and Town Entry Signs we’ve completed for Berrigan Shire Council (BSC). These projects have all been completed with extensive community input. The WAAAF Creek Walk is a direct outcome of the successful project process already completed. Tocumwal has a story of national significance to tell and is particularly well placed to tell Australia’s WAAAF story.
Our work developed staged recommendations from a detailed site analysis and risk assesment, community engagment and historical research. The report recommended:
